Create your first group

A Group is where everything in Donget happens. Each shared cost lives inside a Group, so the people in it always see the same Expenses and Balances. Here’s how to create your first one.

Create a Group

1. Open Donget and tap the + button on the home screen.
2. Choose New group.
3. Give it a clear name — like Lisbon trip, Flat 4B or Saturday dinner.
4. Pick the Group’s currency. Don’t worry if people pay in other currencies later — Donget handles that for you.
5. Tap Create.

That’s it. Your Group is ready, and you’re the first Member.

Add the people sharing the costs

A Group is more useful with friends in it. You can add Members now or later:

1. Open the Group and tap Members.
2. Tap Add member and enter a name, or invite a Friend from your list.
3. Send the invite link so they can join from their phone.

Anyone you add becomes a Member who can be included when you split an Expense.

Tip: You don’t need to wait for everyone to join before adding Expenses. Add Members by name now, record what people paid, and invites can catch up later — Donget keeps every Balance accurate.

What happens next

Once your Group exists, you can:

• Add an Expense for anything the group shares.
• Watch Balances update live as costs are added — everyone sees the same numbers in realtime.
• Settle up when you’re ready, with Donget suggesting the fewest Payments to clear every debt.

Everything you add syncs in realtime, so every Member sees the same Groups, Expenses and Balances at the same time — no refreshing and no “did you add it yet?”.

Creating Groups is completely free, with no limit on how many you make or how many Expenses each one holds.
